| GameBoy Color
OFF Just recently noticed, that if I do not count the sprites, how close the Gameboy Color spec and speed is to Plus/4. (OK, we can list a lot of other home computers too, but the two square audio channels and the number of colors on screen limits the potential candidates).
We have 160x200, GBC has similar double pixels, but 160x144. Number of colors on screen 10, 32 or 56 (most of the games i saw was 32) CPUS speed on 4Mhz is very close to ours Audio: 2 square wave channels, 1 wave channel, 1 noise channel. RAM: 32kB Cartridge 128KB (similar to one D64 side) the 40 sprites on screen at once what we only missing for the good ports. (yeah, a GBC runs similar code as a ZX Spectrum, but the gfx is far better due to colors)
Wiki quote Main processor: Sharp Corporation LR35902 (based on the popular Zilog Z80, 8-bit) Processor speed: 4 or 8 MHz (two processor modes) Resolution: 160 x 144 pixels Palette colors available: 32,768 (15-bit) Colors on screen: Supports 10, 32 or 56 Maximum sprites: 40 total, 10 per line, 4 colors per sprite (one of which being transparent) Sprite size: 8x8 or 8x16 Tiles on screen: 512 (360~399 visible, the rest are drawn off screen as a scrolling buffer) Audio: 2 square wave channels, 1 wave channel, 1 noise channel, mono speaker, stereo headphone jack ROM: 8 MB maximum RAM: 32 kB VRAM: 16 kB Cartridge RAM: 128 kB

Yes, of course. I discovered the game boy as a great source for some wonderful title screens, which can easily be converted to our system. It has some great games. Yars Revenge

The GameBoy Colour can also display 4 colours. Most if not all GameBoy games were coded to use 4 colours. Obviously these colours could not be seen by the player until the GameBoy Colour came along.
There are a lot of cool games on Gameboy, it's like an extension of the 8bit era. How neat would it be to have GameBoy Colour Montezuma's Return on C16/Plus4! As close as you could hope for when it came to having a Tom Thumb 2.

Resurrection!
Ive written a couple of Gameboy games on the classic and Color. The gameboy does not have double pixels, it's screen resolution it 160x144. However converting C64/C16 games means you can just convert the double with pixels to single, it just makes the graphics look a bit squashed.
The Color can display 32 colours with 4 per character out of a choice of 8.
It also does 4 bit samples using the same technique as the Commodores.

The GBC graphicians were extremely talented. Many of the artwork can be ported with a minimum of loss: <IMG SRC ='http://www.patsos.de/plus_4/YarsRevenge2.PNG'>

Its a conversion to plus/4. I had to place the logo to the left to fit in.
