@JamesD Do you have any speculations why so powerful computer as Thompson MO5 was known only at France? It has very poor page at wiki. :-(
[***edit] Could you give a link to page with 6502 vs z80 codes?
@MMS http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amiga-USB-Mouse-Adapter-PS-2-USB-Brand-New-/120777266394? - look at price
It looks like I am only one 6502 man at this forum! IMHO z80 code for the real task can't be less than 3 times slower. The mention above hardware man said that the slowest part of z80 is not its instruction set but the way it connects to video controller. The next data illustrate MHO.
| 6502 | z80 |
|
---|
bit zp | 3 | 8 | 1:2.67
| lda/sta abs | 4 | 13 | 1:3.25
| lda/adc/and/eor/or im | 2 | 7 | 1:3.5
| jsr abs | 6 | 17 | 1:2.83
| jmp abs | 3 | 10 | 1:3.33
| bcc/... rel | 2/3 | 7/12 | 1:3.5/1:4
|
Jumps and calls are the same at any CPU and can't be replaced. z80 has no instruction like LDA ABS,Y which has the same speed as LDA ABS. 6502 zeropage speed is like z80 registers.
