I just checked it last week, and ALMOST bid... But the price is a little too high, though THIS is what we need for modern PCs. It would solve all my transfer and testing problems...
Interistingly, you can buy it on our brother site, commodore16.com site shop, as I calculate, a little cheaper, than the ebay link. (I dunno, if still active...)

XU1541 is the predecessor of the XUM1541 but without the support of parallel transfer and IEEE-488 drives. ZoomFloppy is an XUM1541 implementation and IMHO it's a better choice. I've one and it's very easy and comfortable to use it on my laptop.

Those are HD (96 tpi)... Most CBM drives can't handle them. I had some 96 tpi disks back in the days and some wouldn't even format and all of them caused errors/data loss.
Even the SFD 1001 (lots of blocks  ) requires 48 tpi disks!
Some ppl mentioned that some 1541-II drives could handle 96 tpi disks but from my experience I wouldn't recommend them at all.

In fact the SFD-1001 requires 96tpi disks but not the HD ones. Although most DSDD disks with 48 TPI will work as 96TPI in those drives.
The HD disks has a different magnetic coating which is (mostly) not compatible with Commodore drives. Sometimes you can use HD disks in a 1541 but most probably it won't work.
The only source I know for 5,25 96TPI DSDD disks is www.athana.com

I guess I was mislead by the fact that all my DSDD disks were 48 tpi and I tried many of them on a SFD-1001 and never experienced any problems. And all the HD disks I owned were 96 tpi and none of them worked on the SFD-1001. So I wasn't refering to the actual format but to what's printed on the label 
Btw, did you ever get your SFD-1001 fixed? Or do you have several ones? Personally, I don't have one but 21 years ago there was one at my high school (even at that time "retro" ).

Now I have 3 of them (beside an 8250LP) . At first I was only two of them and then I acquired a third (working one). By swapping parts between the working and one of the non-working ones I could find out that one of the 6502s was faulty. I replaced it with one from a defective 1541C (thanks, MMSZ!) and now it works perfectly too.
So the current situation is that I have two working SFD-1001s, one non-working one and the 8250LP which does not work either.

I bought a Panasonic TX G-10, or in other words a 10" CRT many years ago.
I don't use it much now days but it's a great little screen with all your normal connections plus RGB scart, S-video, Composite video and even BNC!
Being a CRT it's still a little heavy to carry and so was the price tag. Just over £300 when I bought it. Crazy I know...

One thing that you should note is that size really does matter. Being 8" or 10" which I have is that the plus/4 has screen boarders making the picture even smaller!

when I read Chronos's posting I was going to answer that I got a tiny CRT with lots of inputs. Yeah, it's a Panasonic TX G-10 Haven't seen many better CRTs that size. I like the handle on top of the TX G-10, though, a small LCD might be the better choice (transportation wise).

I thought you guys had seen this and couple of others years ago. Early 2000's at Retrovision in Oxford, UK. Yes it's Lazer Zone and I had it setup ready for Jeff Minter to play his own game! :P
I was lucky to have a BNC cable from an old Commodore c64 I picked up back in the 90's and it was lush seeing the Plus4 using it, almost like RBG clean and colourful. One reason why I went with the screen was because of that, plus when I was working on the site doing the games I needed it handy at the side of me all the time and the size was perfect.
I've put a Dreamcast on it once via RGB scart lead just to watch the Shenmue intro and when I showed my dad back then he thought it was real, smaller making it looks better type of thing haha!
Yes beer, smokes & Plus/4 down the pub. AVIT!

I was very lucky with ebay once a few years back.
I picked up 50 unused floppy's for £25 from the states. Not boxed but all in paper sleeves in 2 airtight bags with white sticky label booklets.
No markings of manufacturer but genuine disks. I haven't had the need to open any as yet.
I could have picked up at least another 2 batches but I didn't have enough readies and thought it would be a bit selfish anyway as they're becoming rarer now.
What I have is a lifetimes worth for me

Hi, I am even more lucky then. For ~30 USD I bought a working (old type) C64, an 1541/II, and I got ~80 5.25" discs with full of stuff, most of them are noname, but 30% is 3M or Sony. Till today had no time to check all of them.

I know we already discussed some SD cad based HWs for D64 and PRG transfer, but none of them were perfect for Plussy. Maybe Zoomfloppy, but it also has some limitiations with games and demos, as I know.
This one said to be a self developed HW, and able to run D64 in turbo modes, and can handle programs with loader.

The 1541 with SpeedDOS can be used with Plussy, as I learned, there is a SpeedDOS for both NTSC and PAL Plussy. I suppose this config is at least 2x faster than 1551.

It seems to use the SD2IEC firmware on a selfmade hardware. A guy at AmigaSpirit.hu want to buy one and made the seller to do some testing. In most cases it worked well, even with custom loaders.

I found one limitation, may cause a lot of hassle during real life use.
The card ha no LCD display to show the name or the number of the current D64.
So you go up and down between the D64s, but no clue, which one you actually have.
You should do a DIRECTORY command to see it.
Imagine you have all your D64s on one 1GB SD card, maybe 120-130.
You may have a list printout, eg. 21st is Bard's Tale III, 43 is LOTR
Then you copy 10 more D64s tot the SD card, and can generate again your list.
Or you count in your head...
I also do not get, if you have 3 buttons, and out of that 1 is the Reset, how you can manage the mentioned subsfolders (go in and out)?
Otherwise it is nice piece of HW
