That's not much to go on... Do all demos freeze it? Did you try some games? Do you have a way of getting files to the Plus/4 other than the sd2iec?

 Re: sd2iec and demos

SD2IEC does NOT emulate a 1541 drive so none of the programs that download some custom code to the drive memory (= all fastloaders, including the ones in demos) will not work with that.
SD2IEC is a nice way to transfer D64 images quickly to the real machine but nothing else. I have to admit that I don't even know how to copy a D64 image from an SD2IEC to a real floppy disk. Probably you should use a copier that can fall back to KERNAL routines.

have tried single prg-demos and most work. games work too.
statesunited don't work fo example.

On the C64 and the C128, I use Strobe's D64it and D128it, respectively. (There's even D64it for the VIC-20).

They work like a charm with the SD2IEC,

States United uses a dedicated loader so it won't work with sd2iec.

Your 1551 damages disks? What happens exactly?

by the way. is there a documented listing of kernel routines? ie for printing out something and so on.

I've just created an entry in the encyclopedia for the KERNAL jump table here.

I have to admit that I don't even know how to copy a D64 image from an SD2IEC to a real floppy disk.

Thanks for the tip. I've downloaded it and started to create a plus/4 port. The source code seems to be simple enough and it already contains support for C64 and C128 targets in the same source file so hopefully I can finish it by the weekend. wink

dracopy -> http://www.sascha-bader.de/html/dracopy.html
cbm-command -> http://cbmcommand.codeplex.com/

both handle d64 well
just mark all files and copy to real disk.

rudis: it just came to my mind that SVS has created and maintains his ultimate map: ROM map

It includes more detailed use of the KERNAL routines.

 Re: sd2iec and demos

I've finished porting of D64IT to plus4 the day before yesterday. Testing was done in YaPE with 1551 set as drive 8 and 1581 as drive 9.
Creating a D64 and copying it back to a disk seemed to be working well resulting in the same images as the original one.
It was relatively easy to convert; the only major task was converting PETSCII screen codes to .byte directives. happy
I've asked permission from the original author to publish it though I'm not sure if it's required as the source code was freely available.
I would rather wait some days for an answer but in case of excessive demand I'm willing to release it anytime. happy

wow,what a fantastic gift to celebrate 2012! Thank you! I was thinking about SD2IEC,but after getting to know the limitations, i could not convience myself. With this tool it will be easy to create custom PRG collections, and soon i need that feature

Do you know anyone in Hungary who builds and sells this thing? This seems to be the most handy option to transfer stuff for me.

How much would that cost? It's around 34GBP if I buy it online.
Can I pay with effect previews? :b

 Re: sd2iec and demos

There was a Hungarian guy who made an SDIEC implementation some months ago. He advertised it on Vatera and probably on apronet.hu too. I cannot find his advert anymore but I still has his e-mail address if someone is interested. The price was about 10-12 thousand HUFs (I can't remember as I did not buy from him in the end)

Yeah, I asked that guy about what was what he was actually trying to sell (sd2ies, or something else), but he resisted answering clearly, so I didn't buy it. happy

 Re: sd2iec and demos

I found him on an other forum too and he wrote that he designed his own PCB (his goal was to make it in the smallest possible size) and used the SD2IEC firmware. I had to dig up the internet to find the wikipedia article containing the very same description as his advert. After that he admitted that he used that firmware. happy
But in the end I did not buy one from him as the firmware is not upgradeable on his device and that was a mandatory feature for me.

 Re: sd2iec and demos

my project is suspended for a while now, work troubles, life troubles.. i have a bunch of parts (microcontroller, card reader etc..) my first pcb was unusable but proved that i can do a useable pcb at home grin so, it seems to be spring will be the next season when i can moving further with sd2iec.. the goal will be a cheap upgradeable version so if you have patience i can fulfill your needs too grin
