| Farewell, X1541!
I used my old selfmade X1541 cable since 1994, when I'd found out the Delta System's ftp I'd enhanced to become what you can see rulez.org. I used it till now, even with XP+UserPort.SYS+GIVEIO.SYS, it worked quite good.
Unfortunately, the latest (forced!) Star Commander beta gets stuck with mouse when those .SYS are active, and dunno why. Hence, I need to but a tranfert cable, no real alternatives left. I may use the parallel cable connection Mike has given to me, but I can't take all the stuff with me, attach it with the pc (no, no laptop) and manage .d64s meanwhile. "Turbo Koala 15" collection, and the new digis from TLT are still waiting here! And what about "limiTED 2"? I surely will need to test entries on the real machine! So, which one of the infinite cable series should I buy? Suggests are wellcome.

Surely IMO: XA1541 + OpenCBM. But mind that the 64TPC project looks very promising, MikeZ is testing it for Plus4.

@Joe Foster shop: http://sta.c64.org/x1541shop.html
IMO the cheaper and reliable site (15 €uro cash)

On his side, he wrote: "Note that I have no X1541-series cables or adaptors anymore; if you want these, please, contact Peter Schepers instead." ...and Peter Schepers lives in Canada, I think...

i have built an usb adapter as i found on (because my nb has only usb ports):
http://www.trikaliotis.net/opencbm
..but still no hope to make it work with opencbm, so if u can help me to reach that Spiro guy for the usb compatible opencbm software i will help ya to make an usb adapter for your machine
i have an stk200 programming device and everything, a working xu1541 adapter the only thing is i badly needed the pre patched software.. i tried it once around christmas but there was no help
last but not least i have a bunch of paralell-1541 cables compatible with newer motherboards somewhere, XM1541's as i good remember.. --- just a small competition: the first dude who help me to get alive my usb adapter will get a pre-tested XM1541 cable for free (including shipping) - there is no deadline set, the first wins :)

Chronos, Luca: you definitely should consider the 64TPC. It is sold for $35 including accessories and postal charges.

Well, AlbMan, the guy who built a X1531 for me, will put up a XA1541 from scratch following some schematics. Unfortunately, it will occur in some time, and I need something to afford limiTED2: little optimized code really needs to be seen as working on the real machine!
