Luca: thanks for the information, finally some good news  I assume this means that it is not necessary to investigate this problem further, and I should just continue to build both SSE and non-SSE versions (the latter do run about 1.5 times slower on my machine for multicolor conversions, so the difference is not insignificant) ?
Exin: this problem sounds even more weird. For me, the GUI controls seem to work fine under WINE, and native Windows as well. Is 'Vertical size' the only one that is not behaving as expected ? Can you change it by clicking on the number with the mouse, and then dragging to the left or right with the mouse button held down, or by typing in a value directly, or are both methods broken ? Is it possible to set the value on the command line (with the -size N option) when starting the GUI, or does that get changed to 128 too ?
