   |   A white portable prototype
In the famous "Bil (Herd) and Dave (Haynie)" video [video here, text here], a portable prototype (code "2") was shown (all the data on text). Chronology shape and all the rest makes me wonder if that could be or not the legendary portable c116...

I doubt that this is a C116 LT or whatever.
To me it looks like a prototype of the well know Commodore LCD http://www.cbm264.com/cbm/CommodoreLCD.jpg
Just the LCD is bigger than in the picture... rest of the case is identical. If I recall correctly Commodore manufactured the LCDs (ie the actual display) and I guess that's why they had several prototypes around.
The Commodore LCD had in fact much more in common with the plus/4 than with the C64 (eg BASIC 3.6, integrated software). That's why I never understood why ppl claimed that it's some kind of a C64.

Yeah, there are a couple of pictures on the net. I was just looking for something "official"
Btw, there isn't a "RESTORE" key on the keyboard. So it's definitely closer to the plus/4 than to the C64.

  Hmm...anyway very interesting!
However, I've found one more picture of from a "normal" Commodore LCD - indeed, with such a big display: http://www.zock.com/8-Bit/C-LCD2.JPG

The very next picture.... with a 1563 next to it.
I like the rainbow bars on the booth.... very TED-like.

  Gaia...
It's well hidden First time, I only checked the smaller ones and didn't see it. You made me check it again.
I wonder if the website owner is Terry Ryan?

I didn't notice the Plus/4 part either, til this was pointed out.
It could just be the angle that the picture was taken from, but it looks to me that the 128 and LCD were the prominent machines of the booth, and the Plus/4 regulated to the back part of the booth.... complete with inadequate lighting.

Yeah, second (third?) grade, as ever I must add that by the time the C128 came out, the plus/4 must have been well on its way towards getting dumped... I am surprised the two were even shown together at a booth!

Bil Herd confirmed these pictures to be from the 1985 CES show, so that was plus/4 "prime time". And yes, this page is from _that_ Terry Ryan whose name is in the plus/4 ROM!
