Most software is already "on the web", so you can just download it. There are a couple of different file formats that are supported by emulators like YAPE, e.g. ".D64" which is a disk (side) image or ".PRG" which is just a single file. Both can be opened by YAPE (and other emulator as well).
Or do you want to transfer software from your plus/4 disks to PC? Then you need some kind of cable (eg XM1541) to connect the disk drive to the PC.
