RF 501 C info at Plus/4 World: added some pictures and TLC's measurements. The manual that comes with the drive is in Publications, partially scanned. (Note to self: update the site so that the hardware pages link back to related publications.)

Been doing a bit of googling, and there's a small possibility that the power supply for the Spectravideo SVI-318/328/728 MSX machines may be compatible. They appear to have an similar (if not identical) connector, and they supply the same voltages + current to the same pins, but can't confirm anything definite.
There's a picture of said connector on this site. (Last pic)

The sticker on the PSU says "16V ~ 0.8A" and "9V ~ 1.5A" ... so the box is a transformer, with no rectifier / voltage regulator circuitry.
I did a quick attempt to measure the voltages on the PSU connector. So... The "upper" two pins of the connector (looking at it at the rear side of the drive) bring 9v AC, and the bottom two pins 16v AC.

I got the power supply box right here, but forgot to bring a digital multimeter with me :-/, so you'll have to wait for the pin-out until tomorrow.

I have one at hand at home. I might have a look at it this evening.
Yes, there's a transformer box on the cord... should be a simple 230v --> +5 / +12V regulated power supply but I'm not sure.

ok,
seems this is still shrouded in mystery for me. Can those of you with a functioning rf501c give me a description of the power cord that you have? Is there a dc transformer box embedded in the cord, like a c64 has?
Anyone done a test with a multimeter yet?

You'll need a voltage meter. Plug the power cord into the wall, but not to the disk drive. Check the left side pins against each other, and the right side pins against each other. Do NOT test one left to one right pin or you could short out your meter or power supply!
The upper left pin should be one voltage, and the upper right pin should be a different voltage. The lower pins should be the ground or return lines for these voltages.
With any luck, the power supply will test close to the 1541-II/1581 power supply, so that a 1541-II or 1581 power supply can be substituted.

I've found an RF501C disk drive at the thrift store i work at, but it came with no power cord. Anyone who have one (I've seen at least a few posts regarding this drive) know the configuration of the 4 pins?
