 Re: LEMMINGS +4

I keep to resurrect ancient threads happy Again due Frank Gasking's recap, TCFS has definitely freed all the available material about Lemmings! Yes, now you have the best known preview to be downloaded or played via Javascript emulator online.

Go to the Lemmings page even if you're seeking the GTW's recapping post.

 (no topic)

Well, I'm sorry that this cool little game can't be made on this little machine! By the way, I'd even settle for a Lemmings +4 Demo if someone could arrange it! ;-)
Greetings to everybody!

This makes no sense in German. I guess it was made with a web-translator. What more, Dan Wood is known to be English native happy

I contacted Töci some days ago and suggested him to read the plus/4 forum on Index.hu , as his name reapperaed again on the wish-lists.... Well, it looks bad, but the hope dies last.

TCFS has talked again!
Please hungarians, we need to translate the Oracle here!
http://forum.index.hu/Article/viewArticle?a=54063411&t=9006036

Sziasztok!

 Re: LEMMINGS +4

Hi!

Well, I pushed my bicycle over here once again, because many of you missed me... :-) I don't have too much good news however:

Lemmings = failure... I read into my code after ten-some years, which was just edited in monitor and vomited into the keyboard. So besides my soul my hardware is also in ruins. :-) Not to mention that I checked and there's almost no memory left to implement any useful functions. The program itself is not too large, but the memory is taken up by all kinds of buffers. E.g. by default 4 graphics screen areas are used to display the double-buffered graphics.

GPC: The controls must unfortunately stay as they are. Unfortunately back then I programmed like a skunk (as Prokee mentioned re: differences in thinking), so that all kinds of "release modules" were what made up the code. To close the release process all kinds of "secrecy" stuff was run (e.g. Busy, Exploding, etc :-)) So without the exact knowledge of the release process today I have no chance of putting together anything. (E.g. in Battery 2 the individual files had to be in specific areas of the disk, which I moved around using all kinds of disk monitors after copying them, etc.)

What I can remember about the controls is that I is ignition, and space is the gear shift. If you push it with gas, it switches up, together with the handbrake it downshifts.

Movies: "tcfs_is_playing_batter2_1991.mpg" and "tron3d.mpg". These were digitised by me from Karsten's Compy XMAS VHS tapes. I believe Prokee put it up on some FTP site.

IEC-ATA converter: If someone has the hardware ready for connecting a notebook winchester to a Plus/4 using an IEC-ATA connection, then I'm ready to buy :-) (Maybe it's even better if someone has IEC-CF module, because I've seen such circuit diagrams on the net.)

Oh yeah, and nowadays I'm once again kicking it abroad, so I don't have time to meet with anyone...

 Re: LEMMINGS +4

The point is this: everyone wants it. Not sure if TCFS maestro ever pops in to read these threads, but if he did, it would confirm that there's a demand. We all hope he finds the time and energy to finish and release this game.

In order to save Luca's heart, let's keep this thread for adding actual new pieces of info if possible happy

That's great, Lavina. Especially, it's good to know he's ok, though heavily working.
I wonder about the little project he talked about at 4ever03, if you remember he said that game would be finished before the Lemmings'final release. It was, if my mind doesn't cheat me, a DonkeyKong clone or so...

 Re: LEMMINGS +4

Hi guys!

If anyone got a right contact address of TCFS please email me!
I am really happy if Lemming plus4 will ever be finished! I told my idea to Lavina, i hope he can help!

I found all of my graphics for lemmings (options screen, lemmings anims, levels, logo, etc), so not much time is need for a finish. ... and the really good news, I found the LATEST release which TCFS copied to my disk!!!(v3)

HAHOO TCFS REPLY TO ME! happy

 Re: LEMMINGS +4

Okily dokily, so here's my two cents just so we're all clear. Lemmings exists, we have a little shire here on Plus/4 World with screenshots, photos, and all known info. (It's obviously not serving it's purpose very well, reading the above posts...) It's working (playable), been shown on patries and known to be spreading underground despite the author's request. We're all hoping it will be finished some time.

If you guys have just a bit of patience, someone with admin rights will come around and translate non-English posts, just be patient, and stop with the "I don't understand" type posts. happy

MikeD, I was there when Tamas had shown us more than 40 softsprites moving around in a fullscreen level, and there's a photo here at +4World that can show my face:

 Re: LEMMINGS +4

Actually....Lemmings on the C64 uses a really neat sprite trick. That playfield is done in sprites, and the lemmings use characters (probably stored in vertical columns as its much quicker).

The sprites are then placed behind the background. This gives 2 playfields and allows much faster drawing of the Lemmings....pitty the P4 can't do that...Oh well.

I used 2 playfields on the SNES as well, and used a 4 colour screen for drawing the lemmings....soo much easier. Course... it also had DMA meaning the clear screen was much faster as well.

 Re: LEMMINGS +4

BTW, Csaba cleared up my mind, pionting out that Lemmings C64 operates on a little portion of the screen. The TCFS'creation is fullscreen, instead!

Hi all !!! My questions is, has anybody ever finished the Plus/4 version of LEMMINGS?? If I recall correctly, a few levels have already been made, but it hasn't been finished.
