A photo on plus4.emucamp should be marked as a modification, not as a rare piece. If I were putting it on my site I would state this.

you are right, but not everybody is a commodore expert and not everbody knows what he or she is selling - especially on ebay - I think it is a nice modding and worth to be shown on plus4.emucamp.com

But he says in the listing that it's rare, which is a bit misleading, as the term 'rare' should only apply to original items, not modded ones.

I also think it was too expensive - but he told me the price is ok - for a C16 he had to spend a least 10 euro...

I email the seller he is a collector and he doesnt care if this computer is a joke or not - he promised to send pictures of the machine if the got it - maybe Lando or Csabo can make a headline about this nice modicication - in my opinion it is a black painted C64II case with a C16 keyboard and C16 mainboard

Yes, the C64 and C16 keyboards are physically the same size and can be swapped. Here in the States, Commodore sold excess C16 keyboards to Tandy's Radio Shack division for sale as "programmable keyboards", I have seen a few on Ebay.
As far as the NMI thing, I have gone back to re-read where I got the idea last night, and it turns out that I was reading about the C64. Sorry, that's what happens when I'm stuck at home for 5 days straight with 3 sick children......

James, when I talked about the keys I meant not the wiring but the layout, the physical shape of the buttons that is. I could not verify it at time of posting but those could match.
About NMI: it's not only not handled by the OS but is also not wired to any of the pins of the processor, so there's no way one could cause and/or detect an NMI with these processors. As for the tape routines, they simply set a timer, poll the tape read line and check if the timer interrupt gets set or not (bit 0 or 1).

One could change the keyboard, yes..... but the buttons would not match. The C64 has two cursor keys, the C16 has four..... C16 has ESCape where the C64 has <- (backarrow). The C64 has a RESTORE key that the C16 does not use.
Speaking of differences, the C16 and Plus/4 do not have NMIs. However, you cannot TRAP a LOAD ERROR from Datasette..... at least I never successfully have. The 7501/8501 support NMIs, it's the operating system that (supposedly) never issues one. Has anyone traced the tape load routines to verify the interrupts used?

Now that you're saying... That could very well be the case... One could even replace the buttons of the original C16 case to the painted C64C case if he's so sleek.

This is simply a C16 in a painted C64C case. Note that the second photograph shows the back side of the unit. At our right you can see an opening for a modem (user port), which the C16 never had.
Now I wish I had bought up a lot of C64Cs and C16s.... and some brown paint!
