Re: Yape 1.2.5 - problem with joystick

My mistake was looking at the wrong place in the settings, as a VICE user, I didn't notice that things are a bit different in Yape.

And when it comes to the speed drop to about 80% this is caused by my gameplay recording program.

I don't want to sound arrogant, but what Csabo suggested is the same exact thing I tried to tell you in my post...

Re: Yape 1.2.5 - problem with joystick

Ok, I'll play the original version too happy

And explaining, I like to experiment and play clones of good games and since these are more or less successful productions, well...
Playing only good games is boring wink

Re: Yape 1.2.5 - problem with joystick

Marvin's Adventure's tape is quite dirty and the signal starts too soon. If you drag'n'drop it into the YAPE's window, the autoboot could easily fail into a ?BREAK ERROR. You only need to stop and rewind the tape, enter the LOAD command and everything will work.

In order to cut off all this crap, I restored the right initial silence on the tape before the game starts to load, and I updated the files so you can download it again [ HERE ] or [ HERE ].

Btw, as I did already write to you days ago via YT, Marvin's Adventure is a hack of the original game ( Return Of Rockman ), part of a collection of cracked games, usually sold in the newsstands in Italy in the '80ies. Hence, why do not prefer the original one?

Thanks, this solution helped grin

I'd also like to ask why Marvin's Adventure won't start at Yape but there is no problem at VICE? You can see it here:

Re: Yape 1.2.5 - problem with joystick

From what you're describing, that's simply the "port".

There are two joystick ports in the Plus/4. Dork Dave and the Dirty Trick listens only to port 1. (On a real machine, if you plug your joystick into port 2, you won't be able to control the game at all.) Giana Sisters however listens to both. It doesn't matter which port you use.

Specifically for YAPE, if Giana works fine, but Dork Dave doesn't, click Settings | Swap joystick port or use the ALT+J shortcut.

Re: Yape 1.2.5 - problem with joystick

Yape sees the joystick normally all the time, it is even visible in preferred devices, I can calibrate it but some games still don't want to use it. For example, The Great Giana Sisters normally uses the joystick and with the same emulator settings Dork Dave and The Dirty Tricks no longer sees the joystick.

On the BASIC screen you can move the joystick Up, Down, Left, Right and print characters on screen. This allows you to see if the stick is working before the game is loaded.

Re: Yape 1.2.5 - problem with joystick

It's ok because there are games that don't have problems with these controllers. One of the problematic games is Dork Dave and The Dirty Tricks - in Yape I can't use joystick, in VICE there is no problem.

Re: Yape 1.2.5 - problem with joystick

I know this might be a trivial suggestion, but did you try to connect the joystick to both ports? Some games use Port 1, others prefer Port 2.

Yape 1.2.5 - problem with joystick

Hello happy

I have a problem with controller visibility in games - a large number of games do not recognize my joystick or pad even though the joystick or pad itself is visible in the emulator. It's not just me who has this problem, my friends also have it. And to make things even more interesting, those games that didn't see the controller in another emulator (VICE) see it normally.

Joystick - Speedlink Competition Pro Extra
Pad - Gamebird Wireless Game Controller For PS4 or PC

I have no idea what the problem could be :/
