I'm glad some one knows their adventure games. I never had a keen intrest in them and only played a couple over the years. Scott Adams meant Scott Adams so I thought they were all related because he was the dude who created these games. With his name being used on the box I could only guess

Okay from what I understand from your link (above), Adventure International UK was a licensee of the name "Adventure International" from Scott Adams' US company.
Therefore there shouldn't be any -real- connection between US and UK operations other than as licensee. Adventure Intenational UK was a label used by Adventure Soft for sale of Scott Adams games there.
Which would explain why Scott didn't really have much to say about Brian.... he may not have known him except through the licensing and conversions. Remember Scott didn't code directly for Commodore, he coded for TRS-80s and IBM-type systems. This is why Brian's name shows on a lot of Scott Adams games, because he recompiled for the Commodore platform(s).

| Re: To Lando: Adventure Soft / Adventure International
According to this page, Adventure Soft (UK) was set up to convert imported Scott Adams adventures to other machines.

Are Adventure Soft and Adventure International the same company?
Adventure International's US operations were based in Florida, under oversight of owner Scott Adams. Adventure International UK was a subsidiary, who released the Scott Adams adventures there. AI US released Brian's software here, but Brian may not have used AI UK for his UK releases. Or, Adventure Soft might have re-release rights after AI closed.

The tapes I have seem to be in pretty good condition and do read with a little coersion, but I agree with Lando, there doesn't appear to be a lot thought put into the presentation of the packaging. It's almost as if Paxman sort of ended up with the software and just jammed it out there in case someone would buy them. I suppose that no one thought that people would still be interested almost 20 years down the track.
Either way, it's still 264 software, and needs to be archived.

Aha, so it's PAXMAN PROMOTIONS. You get a bunch of hits on Google for that. I don't think they had anything to do with Adventure Soft, though. They just probably listed Adventure Soft's address so that people who wanted help with the games would write to them (and not to Paxman, as they probably new nothing about these games).
What makes me think so is this page. They list the following C16 game releases: Raider, Mail Trail, Sea Strike, Control Command (could it be Central Command???), Zone Control and Megazap. Plus Golden Baton. They look more like a re-release only label, like Alternative Software. Could have been a label of a bigger company though, but I wouldn't think Adventure Soft.

The full name is PAXMAN PROMOTIONS. I don't know anything about them althought you could at the time send away for a free hint sheet. The address is: Adventure Soft (UK). PO Box 786, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
Which goes back to what James was saying.
All I can say and I'm sure Mosh will agree is these cassettes are cheap and nasty, even the covers are thin coated paper with very limited txt info about the games in question. There was a small sheet with intructions that coverd ALL game release inside. Inshort, how these games work, load and commands ideas.

That's what it looked like to me too. We don't have this company in the database, though. Who were they? Any infos on Paxman?

Csabo, after sqinting real hard at the logo because it's unclear even on the original, I believe they were released by Paxman.
Next time I'm at my fathers place (he has my desktop), I'll have a crack at making .TAP's
Cheers

*Some* Brian Howarth games were published under Scott Adams' Adventure International label, but Brian still held copyright. I have inquired with Scott about these, and he does not have a current contact address or phone for Brian.

Hi there, and thanks for those covers you sent in... Do you know what company released the Brian Howarth releases such as Escape from Pulsar 7? (I can see a logo on all of them, but I can't make it out.) Also, would you mind creating a TAP image of these? The original C16 version just cannot be found anywhere...
