Re: Zzap! Italia for abroad readers

I'd also like to drop my two cents on this publication.

The quality is top-notch, both technically (heavy, glossy paper, excellent layout) and content-wise. It grabs the true spirit of the original Zzap!, which also had its own Italian version back in the Eighties, and brings it into the 21st century, covering all the "classic" topics and some newer ones (emulation, retro-repair, demoscene, etc.) with competence and passion. Of course, the newer issues are less focused on the 64, even if it's still the main machine, ranging from Amiga to the Plussy, and from consoles to Z80-based hardware. IMHO, it's a must for the Italian (and Italian speaking) retrocomputer enthusiast, and I strongly recommend reading it avidly, foretasting all the games you will be able to play for free (or for a few bucks) on your favorite emulator, or better on the real thing. Then, start again from page one!

GLOBAL 99% - Gold Medal and two thumbs up, WAY up!!! happy

 Zzap! Italia for abroad readers

As you would know, the Zzap! Magazine project gloriously enters its 3rd year of success: "Associazione Airons" is legally a sort of social partnership, in which the members pay an annual fee in order to receive a mininum of 4-5 mag's issues including 48 pp. minimum. This "minimum" has never been touched: the issues are usually 5 or 6 per year, and they're all 68 pages big, filled with reviews of new games for several 8bit and 16bit systems, to refresh the mission of the past Zzap! Italia, which was used to publish both translated C64 contents from the UK original, and brand new material regarding non-C64 reviews. See for reference the last issue's specimen at Zzap! 8/93.

Clearly, the subscription is for Italy only. Nonetheless, Associazione Airons prepares some free-from-constrains copies at every new release, which can be freely purchased from abroad! Hence, if the Italian text isn't an insurmountable obstacle for you, it's possible to have your tangible copy at home till the stock is gone. For example, there are still three dozens copies of the last issue here.
