I think if you buy 360KB PC floppy discs, after formatting to GCR they are also useable.
(probably more available and cheaper too)
(I can tell you, my Verbatim Quad Density discs for SFD-1001 were really not cheap, DD did not work for me)
It is told, that factory preformatted discs could be just too strong to able to format with 1541.
