As the 1541 and 1551 floppy discs are exactly the same format, there is no real need for such an adaptor. (it would be a hell of a job for nothing)
I feel much worse for my SFD-1001, as it has a very special 1MB QD floppy format, only supported by VICE and Dirmaster. It would be fun to release a Plus/4 slideshow on this d80 format, having 1MB space for the pictures, and knowing I would be only one (maybe SIZ too) to play it on real HW (as it requires IEEE-488 adapter and a special floppy drive) or only VICE. It would be evil ;-D
------UPDATE----------- Well, maybe I was too fast in my conclusion: There is a Ardunio project out there can make possible to connect to PC via USB with the help of 1551 Paddle. As there are a lot of broken /not operating 1551s out there, it can bring some new life to some of them :-) 6KB/sec transfer speed is not bad from such an old design.

My system has 2 1551 online, and 1 switchable 1541 and 1 1581. The 1551 drives are nice, but as gerliczer said, have a complicated protocol (TCBM), and only very few additional commands. All the rest is the same than 1541. I've measured the speed: contrary to the promises, the real speed of a 1551 compared to 1541 is: - 2x on writing; - 3x on reading. Then, summarizing, it is convenient IMO to use one of the many 1551 <-> PC link systems.

@GeTE
Hi! Install the dos on your old computer. Install the C64HDD on the hard drive. Connect the PC to the Plus / 4 computer with the x1541 cable. Run the CBM-Command program on the plus / 4 computer. Copy the required programs to 1551.

Not no but hardly any. SD2IEC+CBM-Command. That's why.

@gerliczer
Sorry, but why do you think that connecting a 1551 to any kind of PC to transfer data has no sense? Do you think everyone using a 264 until today has bought a 1541 as additional drive? I haven't ...
Or has anyone written some kind of drive-throught-tool for the 264, so you can plug a 1551 to your C16, C116 or plus/4 and connect your PC - by using one of the standard-cables - to the systems serial port for data transfer? That might be an option but I never heard from anything like that.

No. And there's hardly any sense to it. But you're welcome if you create one. There's a guy in the index.hu Plus4 forum who would like to have such a cable very much.

| There are different PC-connection-cables for the 1541, but is there any for the 1551?
I had a used 1541 in the late 1980th but sold it to a C128-User, sold also my C16 and bought a package of plus/4 and 1551. Both worked since these days for me and once I copied my boxes full of disks to the PC, I used Disk2DFI (that works only to read discs).
Nowadays it would be nice sometimes to go vice versa and copy some D64-Images to empty discs. I think many of you have a 1541 and one of the many different transfer cables to do that, but I didn't want to go that way.
That's why I ask if there is any transfer cable out there that plugs a 1551 to any kind of pc in order to transfer files or images (would be best without opening the 1551). And if nobody ever tried to do this quest, who would be interested in that kind of cable?
In my opinion there should be many working 1551 out there and perhaps Individual Computers only needs a hint to make this working (they even made "Keyrha" to plug a C16-keyboard into a PC, something with less sense than a 1551-transfer cable anyway ... in my opinion).
