Just had another look at that inlay, and not only does it have the Molecule Man instructions instead, but they're for the Amstrad CPC version! happy

 re: Big Mac inlay

No way happy Thats unreal, I am a printer by trade and can't believe how they made these mistakes and even sold them like it. Must of been the night shift messing about wink

Maybe the printing and finishing costs for a limited amount of games that were sold for £1.99 must of ment they had a very tight budget and thats why we have these inlays wink

I wish there was info about all covers, who did the art work and that. Would of been nice to pay respects to every part of a game release.

Thanks for the TAP once again happy Cheers!

Sure you can use it, no problem happy

By the way Lando, your Oblido inlay has reminded me...I have a spare copy of Big Mac which has the instructions for Molecule Man printed on it! happy

Cool and nice find! Hope you don't mind but we have borrowed it wink

My Vegas Jackpot is correct Csabo, it does indeed say TOUT on Plus4 aswell. As we have seen with Rockman, Mastertronic later updated so it worked on all machines. Another point aswell the cover states C16 and last of all a couple of these early releases were shipped with out any turbos on then! You may even find a version of Tutti Frutti that doesn't run correct on a Plus4???

And does anyone want to put a price on my spare copy of Oblido? It has the intructions for POD printed on the inside in 3 different launguages!

 Re: TAP

That sure is interesting!

For those who didn't know: The bug is caused by $FF13: this TED register specifies the location of the character memory. In the C16 version it's set to $FD, which would be $F800. On the C16 that 16K of memory is mapped to each 16K segment, so it's actually $3800. On a 64K machine this *really* points to $F800, which is uninitialized. Anyway...

The two TAP versions have a different Basic line 20:
C16 version: POKE 65298, PEEK ( 55298 ) OR 2 : POKE 65299, 48
64K version: POKE 65298, 2 : POKE 65299, 56

That 55298 is not a typo. Why is it like that? Incorrectly recorded TAP file? YAPE made an error during loading? An actual bug? It's the same thing with the title screen, the 64K version on our site displays "TOUT", while the C16 version correctly displays "SOUT". From S to T is just one BIT difference (also from 5 to 6, one single bit).

A .TAP you might be interested in...

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ulysses777/vegas_jackpot_c16_only.zip

This is a TAP that I made from my own copy of Vegas Jackpot, which, unlike the one on this site, works only on a standard C16/C116. When run on a Plus4/C16+64K, it suffers the same corrupted graphics problems as Rockman, Tower of Evil etc.

I haven't seen this version available anywhere for download, so I thought someone might be interested in it happy
