The postmark on the package appears to be Dec 19 and it arrived on Jan 10. Christmas probably slowed things a bit but it should give people an idea of how long it takes to get to the US.
The top comes off the drive pretty easy if you want to remove it but it doesn't just fall off, a little effort is required. The way it snaps together makes me think it was designed to be easily removed. If an upgraded chip ever becomes available replacement should be easy since the microcontroller is socketed.
The plastic molding looks really well done. There was a tiny remnant of the molding process on the front under the SD slot but that was easy to remove. It looks a little more rounded on the corners than my 1571 and the front is recessed a little so it's definitely not an attempt to look just like a Commodore drive. The SDrive 1564 label on the front looks perfectly aligned and the colors are very nice. Looks wise I give it a 10 but some people may prefer a case that looks more like a 1541.
The SD card slot is the push until it clicks to insert or remove type rather than the cheaper push till it stops to insert and pull to remove type.
I received a quick response from the maker today about the power supply.
"Hello,
You can use my power suplly, it's OK in USA. Input voltage:100-230V 50/60Hz. You can buy USA to EU plug adapter, it's 2-3 USD http://www.amazon.com/Generic-Round-Europe-Plug-Adapter/dp/B002TZBW74
Best Regards, Norbi "
I may have 1 of these somewhere so I might be able to give it a test. More likely I have a US to Euro adapter and will have to order one of these.

| 1564 sd drive
I purchased one of these SD drives off of ebay, I chose a version with a built in display.

It took weeks for the seller to get the parts and build more units but that was listed in the auction so I was expecting that. I received the drive today after a couple weeks for shipping. It came in a good cardboard box with bubble wrap but there is potential for the drive to be crushed since the box wasn't very thick. My drive actually arrived with the top popped off but it was no worse for wear in appearance. People should be aware it ships with a European power supply. I haven't been able to test it yet but once I get to pick up an appropriate power supply I'll give it a go. It should work pretty much like most other units with the exception of the display which should make it easier to switch disk images. The physical size is larger than the other units I've seen. The size is in order to accommodate the display, DIN plug, power switch and device ID switches. I think I prefer not having an additional power supply but I guess that is the price for the extra features.
