I don't think the code does anything to multiple spaces, indeed I can see some entries that have them. The HTML output will ignore multiple spaces though, unless you wrap them in a (code) or (pre) tag, or use nbsp characters.

I've just updated this item on Plus4 Encyclopedia, being there some inaccuracies and mistakes, referred to data separators and special characters.
Now I think I've written about all the cases and way to bypass the consequent problems. Please people read and let me know if other has to be clarified.
BTW @Csabo: inside editor, how can I insert more than one space character? (Editor always leaves only one and automatically cut off the remaining).
