Re: Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

Yes, the Italian magazine reported "Original by T. Reynolds" for Forbidden Crypt, hence it would be easy you've seen it previously on an English mag.
I'm working hard to take here from Barry's site several missing data and some readymade prg wink

Let's also not forget this thread on Commodore16.com
There are some titles yet to be completed.

Re: Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

Wasn't "Forbidden Crypt" a Compute's gazette game?
I'm pretty sure it was published there.

That makes me wonder if Compute actually published any other C16/+4 games

Typed and included here as Forbidden Crypt. The "Super Commodore" issues have plenty of lists to be typed in, especially a nice version of backgammon and a wonderful (I remember that) dame simulation with 3D graphics and 9K of logics'code.

Re: Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

I have my work cut out for me doing C64 type-ins (you can see the huge collection I have amassed), and of course nobody wants to help!

Feel free to type these C16 ones in yourself of course happy

Re: Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

@Rio, I see you're in the mood of typing and I would take advantage of this wink

http://www.ready64.it has several italian Commodore mags full of type-in stuff, even for C16:
http://ready64.it/download/index.php
In particular, Super Commodore used to publish C16 stuff for a little time slice, both as BASIC list and on the enclosed tape. When I was very young, I remember with pleasure a BASIC game called "Crypt", a sort of unofficial conversion from the arcade game "Venture".
This is the issue link:
http://ready64.it/download/scheda_download.php?id_download=281
where you can download the scanned pages:
http://ready64.it/download/scansioni/scansioni_super_1985_06.zip.

It would be quite kewl to me playing Crypt again wink

I'm not Japanese anyway, I just work here happy

Actually I just found another C16 type-in from a Spanish magazine. It's called "Guerra Galactica", and it's not that long to type in, so maybe this time one of you motivated people can add this one to your database happy

Heh, it means tons of things, that's because I asked for the correct kanji.

Fixed and uploaded, mag scans added too.
I would credit Rio in the notes for the type-in job, I miss your surname. Are you sure your romanji is "Rio" and not "Ryō"? Which kanji for your name (亮?)?

Re: Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

Oh OK. I suppose one of you will fix the spelling error before you upload it to your archives wink

Thanks for the tips on porting games. I think lots of generic MS BASIC programs can get ported without problems. I have a whole collection of books (pdfs) of listings. I hope to get them done for the C64, but if I keep the porting "vanilla" without any fancy PEEK or POKE changes, they should come across quite nicely to the +4 wink

Thank for this nice type-in stuff!
I found a typo in line 560: "ZOMBIBOL MARAOT" should be "ZOMBIBOL MARADT".
Does anyone want to record a video how to beat all 25 zombies? happy

Cheers,
K

Re: Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

If you have a BASIC 3.5 game (in other words, a game written for the C16 or Plus4), it will load fine on a C64 without requiring anything extra, as long as it doesn't use any 3.5 specific tokens. However, it won't necessarily work, see below.

Your first statement is technically true, but that doesn't mean all programs will actually run, or work correctly. Because the lack of a COLOR command, C64 BASIC programs change screen and border color with POKEs. Those make the program C64 specific. That's just one of several things that needs to be modified in order to convert a C64 program to C16/Plus4. (Others are: actual color values, F-key handling, sound or anything sprite related, etc.)

Re: Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

Actually I just realised that it's totally unnecessary to do anything special to port BASIC V2 games to any higher basic wink

Is there any way to get a BASIC 3.5 game to load up on a C64 (assuming there are no 3.5 particular commands in the code?)

Re: Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

Thanks.

There's actually a few C16/C+4 type-ins tucked away in there.
If I were you, I'd check out the "Drean Commodore" folder in the magazine section. I remember seeing some C16/+4 type-ins down that way.

I will alert you guys to any more that I find.
Also, you may have some fun with the programs in the "generic" folder in the books section. I am trying to get these games ported to the C64... but I'm not sure if there's anything like TOK64 for the C16/+4 so I could port the games over to BASIC 3.5.

Could be fun to port a bootload of old BASIC games over wink

Re: Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

Hi, yesterday evening (just before midnight, haha) I tried it.
It seemed to be working well, and I saw no mispelling.
Congrat!

It means I started 2011 very well, with a brand new C16 release happy
I hope this year will continue like that grin

Zombi, a new/old type-in game for you to play

While going through type-ins for the C64, I came across this C16/+4 game so I went and typed it in.

The listing was nearly illegible in places, but the result was a working game. I can't speak Hungarian though, so I can't read the instructions or anything. There may be bugs in the program too, because the scan of the listing it was so hard to read. Maybe someone can go over and fix it?
