 Re: The Rulez.org Destiny

Erm.

It's too complicaded for my small brain. Dollars, euros, HUF and stuff.

I can't promisse anything at the moment, but if it might help 264 scene, I could try. But surely not month by month: if You'd find some free time and calculate how much it would be per year, in total (in dollars for instance)
and also it's important: if it helps them anyway or not wink (if not - if one additional person wouldn't be enough, hehhe - then I'd prefer to spend my money for the last missing 264 in my collection - the Commodore 16 wink ).

Maybe 'The Digital Dungeon' (ftp://ftp.scs-trc.net/pub/c64) is interested in a plus4-section? Most stable FTP-server since I know the internet. Try asking CBA, if interested.

 Re: The Rulez.org Destiny

Hi,
As you know, I am always willing to support the place if it not exceeding a certain amount.
In fact seeing below I noticed, that there are only 5(?) members for the C64 Rules ORG. Well, it is really expensive to maintain a server with such low membership...

So my suggestion is it would be better to find a more cost-effective place, and you can count on me for a 10-15/year. I dunno, if it would help or not.

 The Rulez.org Destiny

Ok, it's time to face this painful story, and to decide altogether what to do.

Rulez.org, the historical Hungarian Commodore FTP archive, active since 1993 (!) can't be updated since the past year, I personally updated the Plus/4 section in March 2008,
Here at Plus/4 World, we have kept the download links, moreover I use(d) to add "virtual" Rulez.org links as new stuff pops out, even though, of course, updating the archive for real it's impossible to me. I'm doing this because Rulez.org may be back one day (and my "uploading.txt", now veeeeeery big, will tell me what to do to update it on-the fly), alternatively we could find another space we can manage, and change all the Rulez.org links by a batch operation (or automatically duplicate+change the original Rulez.org links into new archive's links, dunno, I'm wondering about...).

Ferenc "Lion" Veres, has explained to me what to do if I/we wanna keep up Rulez.org: in the end, we should pay for it.
On the other hand, all the Plus/4 stuff folder, updated at now, 01 November 2009, is 1,04Gb big, and it would be a low accessed site. Hence, we can find the famous "other" solution, placing it in a different "space" with better and closer-to-us management.

What do you suggest? What about a group effort? Or the alternative space?
Lemme know your opinion: this painful matter has to be solved now! happy

It follows the Lion's feedback.

Hi Luca!

What do you think about this? Have you not received it? (Please
recalculate from the HUF prices now, because HUF is back at normal level
again, so now it's more expensive for you unfortunately. )

Best Regards,
Feri

Hi Luca,

I can't get these idiots ignore the "join fee". We added 50€ as start,
we used that for hardware, and the guys say we will use further joining
guys' 50€ for extending or repairing hardware when needed.

Monthly fee is 2.000 HUF. Actually the join fee is 15.000 HUF. HUF/EUR
rates are quite mad nowadays, I advice you pay asap because HUF is
getting a bit better now,and our prime minister resigned yesterday, this
may also help HUF (if they can find a better PM soon happy ).

If you pay LATER, please calculate in HUF, not in the EUR prices.
