Enter >1017 58 in monitor (or type POKE 4119, 88 from basic) and it will work fine. I wrote about PAL and NTSC in the past, and advocated making everything NTSC compatible many times. It would only have been 5 more bytes in this case 
I share your opinion about the artwork though, these are very nicely done. I'm happy that some of are still hacking away at stuff like this, even though it's not much, even though it doesn't come out often, but the time we put into the Plus/4 is something we share. Okay, I'll just shut up now.
