Re: Music on the commodore plus/4

Sometimes we forget the most basic of things....

Elro, do you have a Commodore disk drive to go with the Plus/4? For the programs mentioned, you'll need to get them from this website onto a floppy disk, and then load into your Plus/4.

To answer the question, Commodore did not sell a music cartridge for the Plus/4. The SOUND command was included in the built-in BASIC, as Csabo mentioned above. Your owner's manual (should you have received one) can give you sample programs.

Another beginning chance is to load the O.S. upgrade "SVS-OS" r. 3.2 that allows you the new BASIC command "PLAY". By it you can write music notes puses, volumes, etc. in a very easy mode.

Re: Music on the commodore plus/4

Hi there! The Software/Utilitiles/Music page lists 78 pieces of software right now, but not all are for writing music, some are more like music-related programming tools.

Here are some of my recommendations: Music Master or Sequential Circuit are somewhat basic, but decent music programs. The Micro-series (like MicroVocals) is TONS of fun, and easy to use, but you are limited to the built in sounds. Future Composer V2.3 (many versions) was (is?) a popular choice for writing music for demos. DMC V1.2 is also pretty good, but to my knowledge not too many people used it. These last two would probably be "advanced".

Or, you could just start writing music in basic using the VOL and SOUND commands, courtesy of the built in Commodore Basic V3.5.

 Music on the commodore plus/4

Hello. I just bought a commodore plus/4, and was wondering if there was a program you could access to write music. Or is there a cartridge or tape that would do it? I have an Atari 800XL and it is possible if you buy a Basic cartridge.
