Re: Basic compilers other than AustroSpeed

Recently I tried Austro. I tried to make some color animation on few dozen characters in BASIC ( happy boy, I did not think that it will be THAT slow), and Austrospeed really made an impressive enhancement on the speed of FOR (and POKE within that) cycle made the color copy from a DIM to colormap.
I can say it became 6-8x faster (compared to YAPE speed setting put to 300% on the native code, still much faster).
Unfortunately the final code does not include all the parts I planned in, as during character ROM-->RAM copy and overwritie the compiled version broke down in 100%, while in native Basic code runs well. OK, almost sure I made the mistake, but I cannot find it, where.
Anyhow, a really impressive package, and with high speed emulation the compilation was very-very fast.
Many thanks SVS for that version!

Remark: Austro made 2 times .D64 file corrupted by selecting 1551, or 1551 IEC fast mode access. So make sure you run Austrospeed with 1541 normal mode setting, high emulation accuracy is suggested.

 Basic compilers other than AustroSpeed

I just checked some programs (love the "play online" feature to open programs in the java emu happy Thanks guys!)

http://plus4world.powweb.com/software/Tiny_Basic_Compiler
This one seems to be a PET or VIC20 program (mind the age, maybe converted to C64)... It seems to run but I think the resulting code is not working on plus/4. (The addresses are not converted to suit the plus/4). Still, it's an interesting approach.

Has this to do something with the above compiler?

This is the Polish Compiler I mentioned in the other thread. Though, it doesn't seem to be loaded by the "play online" feature?! Has anyone tested this compiler?

This is the Micro Basic Complier. Vocabulary is a basic subset (just 13 commands).

If anyone has experiences with any of the above, please share happy
