 Re: Site problems

The tag is correct, but you have to edit your post and enter it there, something only members can do.

In the regular form post (which is available to everyone), IMG tags are not allowed (along with almost all other tags), for security reasons. Non-members don't see the call to action for the Site Uploader either.

Anyway, your point is taken, I will update the text to try and make it more clear.

As for the back button, I think you sent the PM from a member's detail page. On those pages, there's no form post, just the link, so that didn't have the "back URL" included. I added it there, so it should now work. If it still happens, let me know the path you've taken (as in where you sent them PM from).

 Re: Site problems

After sending a PM to someone we get a "Your message has been sent." message and a "Back" button. Somehow the "Back" button forgets that it should be a link to back, not just a static text wink
Happened in Chrome 30.0.1599.101.

Fighing with images still seems a neverending story... Tried to upload a screenshot. The uploader gave this tag which (I presume) should display the uploaded image:
<img src="/dl/forum/20131102_123312_7433_backbug.png" width="861" height="421" alt="">

 Re: Site problems

gerliczer, you're right, of course. Therefore, it doesn't any harm to have at least a look into the posting - it's not like dangerous emails which are delivered into a private mailbox and which quite often are loaded with harmful elements such as innocent looking attachments...

As a matter of fact, my first glance at the posting from kd7vdb before having read it made me suspicious. As you said, the poster's nickname matches the common spammers pattern.

It would be different if I received a personal email with the sender id "kd7vdb". Would be wiped off rightaway.

Well, Hans what would you do with the posts of the kd7vdb guy? He sent legitimate messages although his handle matches quite well the pattern you suggested.

 Re: Site problems

Most of the spam posts -if not even all of them- arrive at the "please report site problems here" thread.
Whenver the sender's name looks like "hxköxsdu" or "g6lodeuu" or similar you can be sure that it's bullshit

 Re: Site problems

Yeah, some of the text is pretty hilarious (probably random, cut together from real user's posts). Many times I thought that instead of deleting them, I should just edit their message to something Plus/4 related happy But nah, just kill it and move on.

 Re: Site problems

Indeed if you see a post that's a little strange then hit the spam button. All regular users do not have this option next to their posts, only unregistered people or bots.

Sometimes they start off funny like, "Treat your Girl with respect and have a good time" as in C16/Plus4 so yeah that makes sense, but then something along the lines of click & pay now or head this way to get a free t-shirt once you have handed your life over to us ect... wink

 Re: Site problems

There is no spam problem. I haven't looked at the filters in 5 days, and in that time, 12 had to be manually removed, while 464 were automatically caught. That's not counting all the hits that were IP blocked.

You see some spam, click a link, done. It's so easy, doesn't take any effort, it shouldn't even register. If we talk about it, the spammers win happy

 Site problems

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Because there are fresh spam attacks targeted to this site - I myself noticed three today, and there maybe are more to coming in over the next hours - I find it quite useful to remind to Csabo's announcment 4 years ago:

Guys, the next time an issue comes up, please start a new thread (e.g. Site Problems 2009) as this one is getting inconveniently long. Your help of performing QA on our code is still appreciated though!

Obviously, the spam bots are programmed to attack busy threads, like the "site problems report" with some 170 entries. So let's f...ck them!

Regards,
Hans.
