For some extra support and to prevent the C16/Plus4 joyport adapters moving around I cut these off some old Atari ST joyport adapters that had seen better days. Just a slight cut in the middle and the cables will come out freely - see spare one.
The plastic having been cut is still more than strong enough to hold the cables in place perfectly, no glue needed. Try and allow your joyport adapters to rest on the table along side your machine to prevent gravity pulling on them. Every little helps and have been using this on a C16 for years. 
Keep away from small children for obvious reasons, they will struggle to remove it but just in case...
