This is actually by design although it shouldn't hang.
You'll notice you can't go back up via the top of the screen too. This is to force you to go one way around the map. Yes, it's mean that it will insta death you if you go the wrong way, but you should only make that mistake once.
Of course, if you have infinite lives switched on you will get stuck in a permanent death loop, unfortunately.
But the map was designed with that intent. I like to have a bit of trolling somewhere in my games

Here's another bug, but it's actually not a bug at all. Based on the screenshots you can see that you can enter the left room from 2 sides. Only if you fly in from the right is the barrier immediately and the game hangs. A design flaw of the maze?

@csabo - Ah I didn't realise this! I will do it myself next time, but thanks 
@Rüdiger - can you remember which spot/screen? And which cheats you had on. Also, are you emulating, on real hardware pal/ntsc etc.
Not sure what the second bug is - can you give a bit more detail?
I know there's a bug with the hi score too, which I'm going to fix this evening

Ah... I think a stray sed without cld may have caused the crash bug due to cheats causing a skip over the instruction. Fixed that now

I also found a spot in the new labyrinth where the game keeps crashing with active cheats.
There is also a problem after the first person is saved and you want to continue starting from the base.
