Not so much a bug, more of a hack. I think the TED rendering in VICE is purely controlled by the option in the settings, and ignores bit 6 of FF07.

Interesting, but...
1) Wouldn't it be better to inform about this issue the developers/maintainers of VICE? 2) Is it really a register's "bug" that an improperly selected KERNAL ROM initializes it in an unexpected way? 3) The latest release of VICE is 3.6.1, AFAIK. Have you tried that?

Just noticed on VICE emulator that, if machine model is set as "undefined" (which is default), even if TED model is selected as PAL, on startup the register contains $48 instead of $08.
(VICE version 3.5)
