Re: Exist GEOS 3.5 for C1541 or C1571 drive?

GEOS (no matter whether for the C64, Plus/4, PC, or Apple) is a copyrighted product.

Over a decade ago, SVS and I obtained a license to distribute GEOS Plus/4 in English. We have to abide by the terms of that license, mainly that you (or anyone else who requests a copy) provide proof of ownership of another version of GEOS. This may be as simple as emailing a unique photograph of your C64 or 128 GEOS boot disk to either SVS or me.

Please note, any GEOS images provided by SVS or myself are electronically marked. If any turn up on a website for download, we will know whose image was posted.

The German version of GEOS is not subject to our distribution license, so there is no issue with +4W hosting an image of that version.

Long story short -- email your request to SVS or me (our addresses are on our profile pages). happy

Can you, if I can ask, share the GEOS 3.5 in English?
I'm not familiar with German language.

Thank you.

Re: Exist GEOS 3.5 for C1541 or C1571 drive?

Hi,
many years ago, when I did translate the GEOS from German to English, I've studied the matter of the drivers. I wanted to evaluate the conversion to the 1541. I was stopped because, if I remember correctly, the disk driver is merged inside the GEOS O.S. - The main problem is the existing GEOS-turbo for 1551.

@MMS: and yes, I am one of the lucky owners of 2 working 1551 happy happy

Re: Exist GEOS 3.5 for C1541 or C1571 drive?

Unfortunately not. I know from personal experience, that GEOS is much more fluent experience with two drives, and I do not think too many people have TWO working 1551. Not to mention the space such a setup may require.

With two 1541/II the GEOS speed/experience is better, than with one 1551, as we could really save a lot of disc swapping time. So it would be great to have 1541/1571 driver, as I have one 1571, one 1541/II, an 1541, but no 1551. (BTW the best would be a GEOS version for SDF1001's 1MB disc in IEc mode, no disc swapping required any more (CORR: the fonts and GeoPublish would NOT fit into the same one disc happy )

UPDATE:
OK, maybe the SFD-1001 will NOT be the most frequently used Commodore drive...:

BTW these are the 1541, 1571 and 1581 drivers for GEOS 2.0:

No, but you are very welcome if you write drivers for those.

Exist GEOS 3.5 for C1541 or C1571 drive?

Hi!

I want to boot to GEOS in MiST core of Commodore 16.
Of course it cannot work 'cause I found yet only GEOS 3.5 version for C1551 drive.

Exist any GEOS 3.5 version compatible with 1541/1571?

Thank you very much!
