Metamerism uses a specific 1541 trackloader, the famous one by Krill, it can't run on a 1551. Did you try the Amiga Mania proper 1551 version?

I don't think Amiga Mania supports the 1551 (the version I have from here), it was probably a mistake to suggest it does.
(edit)
Oops... :) I missed that one.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread. I can't get Amiga Mania running from the 1551 (or Metamerism although its not on this list...) I get the first text screen, and then it says "loading now..." but its not.
Im writing the images using cbm command.

You may also try The 2nd which is a BSZ production too, although I'm not 100% sure.

Most of Ceekay's later demos and games supported the 1551, such as Friction for example.

Here's a few, actually can't think of any more than these: Amiga Mania Coby TCL Mega Radioactive Zone Terror Bubble
Also, if you're working through the Top List of Megademos: all of the ones where the Device Rreq. says "Disk Only (# sides)", but it's in fact 1541 only, please edit that field and correct it I see that Notizen aus der Provinz is the first one in the list that actually says that.

| 1551 Compatible MegaDemo?
Chaps, Is there any of the multi-part mega demos for the plussy that are compatible with the 1551? All those I've tried so far seem to hang. I'm looking for something that I can leave running for a couple of hours to give my 1551 a thorough workout.
Cheers,
Rob
