Re: What happened to Solder of Synergy ?

Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I'd have built or installed that extension in years to come.
I even lack what we call a de-soldering-pump. And even if I try - I only have one Plus/4 at home. So if I fail everythings gone.

Better to live with my 64K than to have a 256K extension with a defective Plussi.
Maybe one day someone will sell a Plus/4 with an extension. I'll keep my eyes open happy

Cheers
Alf

Re: What happened to Solder of Synergy ?

I can't help you out with Solder's availability (unfortunately; he's a really talented and helpful guy IMHO).

"Integration" of the 256k expansion - do you mean the process of installing an internal 256K expansion by himself (as he used to offer long, long ago), or producing the ram expansion logic on a single card? For the second option: although no wiring and piggy-backing would be needed anymore in that case, installing the expansion still needs lots of desoldering, as the original ram chips need to be removed and sockets be installed.

There's a prototype controller board and some photos, see this thread and this page. I don't offer that card for purchase, yet I can send you the hi-res sch and the last single-sided pcb design files (as seen on the photos) if that helps.

What happened to Solder of Synergy ?

Is anybody still in contact with him?
Years ago he offered an integration of the 256 k extension.
But he seems to be vanished in space... or else.

I did my first computer soldering on my C116 with the 64k extension, but I'd be glad if someone could help me with the 256 k extension. Solder would have been my first choice.
