I wondered and hoped this would work. Thanks for confirming!

Lavina most probably this device works with Alpharay. Perhaps my english is not good enough but I tried to tell this already up there!

So SD1541-II won't work either?

Sorry I don't recall what the verdict was with Pets Rescue about that device. It says FULL 1541-2 emulation... Thanks.

 Re: D64 to TAP

Mad: As Chronos mentioned that AlphaRay uses a trackloader. Well, a TR loads sectors in random access-mode: 17:0, 28:12, 14:18, etc. I think, not sector-by-sector: 01:00, 01:01, 01:02, etc. So a long story in short how does a trackloader work exactly? ...and is it really impossible to emulate TR on a sequential-way as a TAP? Will AlphaRay be able to use on a datassette only if it is going to be rewritten by another (eg. sequential) loader?

 Re: D64 to TAP

Dear Scott,

If you want to play Alpharay then an SD2IEC doesn't work.
You may need a 1541 disc drive or an 1551 disc drive and a normal disc to be used with these drives.

This one http://retroemu.hu/sd1541.php was also reported to work with older games which use the same loader as Alpharay, so Alpharay most probably works with this device.

But an SD2IEC sadly does not work with Alpharay.
Some other games (and perhaps many demos) also don't work with an SD2IEC.
Sorry to say that, because I know game collectors seem to like the SD2IEC.
Just that it has no real drive emulation it's just a single file storage device and not a full disc drive emulation like other more modern devices.
Dunno if that helps, perhaps it prevents you from frustration after you bought an SD2IEC and "Pets Rescue" and "Alpharay" just don't work with that file storage device.
If you too own a C64 then you can use an "Ultimate 1541" plugged in to your C64 and connected to the Plus/4 to play these games, too..

 Re: D64 to TAP

Dear Scott,

It's not possible to play Alpharay from tape. The only way is to purchase a 1541 or 1551 disc drive somewhere on the web and use a normal disc for it.

 Re: D64 to TAP

Dear Scott! I think it is impossible, ALPHARAY runs ONLY from a 40 tracks formatted disk (and using trackloader).
