I completed a lot of Charsets for the purpose of building a mosaic of png's that are plus 4 chars.
The best results are using a bitmap mode of course.
Since then I started using, "ppolizei" and wow what a great program!
Is there any way to link pictures together from a menu?
It looks like the mosaic might be able to help ppolizei program choose some better colors. (Maybe)
I am very happy with the bitmap that ppolizei generates.
If you want to try something fun convert your picture and save it as a png before forcing plus 4 limitations. This shows you what a picture could look like if the plus 4 could control every pixel independantly. 
@ MMS would you be open to a collaboration of some kind?
