During its period of maximum activity, ICPUG, the UK based long lasting user group had set strong and fruitful connections with a certain circle of similar realities in US, where the phenomenon of users gathering into local user groups was already well established since the early days of the home computing.
The Librarian in charge at ICPUG had the task to collect the most significant public domain software and organize it into thematic collections to be spread on both disk and tape to their subscribers. The ICPUG USA collection is arguably the entire contribution incoming from the US based spreaders accumulated along the operative years. In fact, some of the most significant software still present into it has been picked up to be part of the PD software disks presented by ICPUG, whereas the larger slice of it didn't find a reasonable location yet.
The ICPUG USA collection includes original C16 software, fully working conversions of C64 PD software, partial conversions which still runs on C16/Plus4, and actual C64 utilites which works on C16 provided that they are forcibly loaded at the starting address of the BASIC V3.5. |
