Lavina, you might suggest that your friend use silicone gel ice packs. These you put in the freezer to cool, then remove them and they stay cold for up to 8 hours (480 minutes to you people on the metric system). If he uses several small ones, he might be able to fit the keyboard back on the machine, as well.
I use a 1531 to C2N adapter on my machine; it does not have the security pin and lets me move the joystick to emulate dongles from C64 software.
