Re: wanted: 264 series MOS 8501/7501 chip

The 7501/8501 is a processor, like the Pentuiim 4 or AMD Athalon in your computer. As such it could be copied but the machinery required to do so would be a LOT more expensive than $50. AMD themselves are having a hard time making a profit and they're selling millions of their own processors each month. wink

I could not find the 8501 (or the 7501) on JSP's website. Was this in their .pdf online catalog, or did you email them for a price quote and availability? If you emailed them please forward the email to me at james (at) cbm264 (dot) com; I'm interested in what they said. Maybe I can set up a wholesale account with them through my employer to buy these cheaper for everyone.

JSP did have reasonable prices on original CBM chips and Motorola processors.... so you AMIGA people (hey LANDO and PETER) might wish to check out that site; if you want spare chips let me know.
