@MIK, that's pretty much the nail on the head. Call a BBS or a local internet provider that offers a text-based interface to the 'net.
@Bernando, the only one I'm familiar with is Higgyterm. It came with the original 1660 (grey box, not the white box) and it's downloadable as a .d64 from this site.
