.prg's are the most basic fuel you can give to a sd2iec meaning most things will run off one with it's eyes closed for C16/Plus4. sd2iec was made for us for the most part even if it was not intended so. Some demo's that were designed to run on a 1551 disk drive my not but overall 98% if not 99% of stuff should work. All .prg's are simple memory dumps, and they load back in to memory where they once were so nothing demanding really.
I use the tried and tested Star Commander to talk to the 1541 via PC on a crusty old Pentium II under dos lol.
Indeed a lack of memory on a C16 could be a problem. Use Yape and set it to a C16 or to have 16k of memory and check each program before you copy to SD.
