@mms I have to repeat that 8250, 8250lp, sfd-1001 are the best pieces of Commodore hardware. They are the best double density drives forever for our world! If they gave them proper interface (for +4, 128, and even Amiga) and DOS upgrade then these drives might become superpopular. I can imagine that the developer of these masterpieces left Commodore at 1980...
Do you still want SymbOS for our +4? How do you see possibility to use graphics on TED without open sources?
@JamesD The mentioned Apple ][ expert performed several measurements. He's assured me that the best possible speed during program load is about 5.5 KB/s - this requires the ideal drive and disk conditions, proper DOS and disk interleave. He also reported that it is possible to reach 7 KB/s with the track copier Locksmith.
BTW I had never opportunity to use Apple IIgs - It is very interesting computer too good for our world (like C65) which overwhelming "security reasons" for IT is the real sign of its flaw nature.
