IMHO The weakest point of all CBM computers is dependency of CPU clock with video chip clock. If TED had 16 KB of video RAM then it would made CPU about 50% faster and made possible to use faster CPU. The faster CPU could emulate sprites.
BTW Spektrum clones are still produced by enthusiasts at Russia. They may use FPGA or z380 unstead of Z80 clocked up to 28 MHz. I don't know why they missed ez80.
