Ah, all the signals are needed. I tried to figure out how to connect the adapter, which you pointed out, to the plus4's user port, but since I'm not a HW person this most likely will go horribly wrong:
Adapter | User port pin
VCC | B?
RxD | M (Transmitted Data)
TxD | B (Received Data)
GND | N (Signal Ground)
CTS | K (Clear to Send)
RTS | D (Request to Send)
