Regarding b) You could show the current track no. as well, so that user know that loading is on progress.
I think SVS is suggesting track and sector display, rather than the track twice. 
I second this idea... it is handy when dealing with "defective" disk images, or we're just nosy as to what the program is doing with the disk drive. The Indus GT (1541 compatible) can do this, so this is not adding something just because another emulator does it -- it's because a track and sector display is a helpful tool.
